So, Andy and I have been accident prone all our lives. If anyone is going to get hurt, it will be us.
First major mishap in the DR: We are getting ready to go do laundry, when I hear the sound of shattering ceramic, a strangled “Aaagh” and a cry for help.
The culprit: A dropped coffee mug.
The result: A finger which won’t stop bleeding, sliced fairly deeply.
The solution: Sutures! After getting access to the school, I proceeded to give Andy the first set of what may be many sutures to come in our marriage. (And yes, I should be wearing gloves in the first one, but he’s my husband….. and I hate wearing gloves down here. It’s just too hot.)
And no trip to the Dominican ER!
so good to click on here and see what you guys are up to. whoa… looks like big stuff!
andy- hope the finger is better.
lauren- wondering if i’ll have to suture my own peeps in SA?

Andy, I’m glad Lauren’s a medical professional.
Nice work!
Hi Andy & Lauren…wow, crazy what can happen thru a broken mug. Good job, Lauren! i couldn’t have done it…so, is it easier to stitch up your husband or someone you don’t know?! =) I’ll have to come back and read more about your life in DR!
I hope you deadened it! Makes my stomach lurch. Good job!
We’ve always said it’s good Andy married a medical person. I don’t know how many times that boy has had an accident in the years we’ve known him.
I’m impressed, Lauren! Andy, she’s a keeper.
Just catching up on your doings in DR and WHOA! You gave Andy stitches?! How cool are you (both)! I’m very proud of you and excited about what you’re doing. Much love from London!
